Learn all about Tanzania’s remote parks!

Parchi remoti Tanzania Primati

The remote parks of Tanzania are the least frequented and most difficult to reach parks, but offer a unique and wild nature, and exclusive possibilities such as tracking chimpanzees. The lake extension is an alternative (not necessarily too expensive) to the sea extension.

They are small parks, and some of them are visited on foot. Usually you can reach them by plane, but with a little time available you can reach them by car, using when necessary the boat for the last stretch. There is no real circuit because they are located in different areas. The newly established parks still lack adequate development of tourist facilities.

Entry to the National Parks in Tanzania is allowed to licensed off-road vehicles of local tour operators with a valid license. The paths of the safaris are strictly bound to the trails. The strict regulation of parks has the laudable aim of safeguarding the inestimable natural heritage and supporting the local economy. The “DIY tourism” presents many unknowns and therefore becomes difficult to practice. With us, local tour operator with Italian participation, you can realize your dream of a tailor-made safari! Rubondo National Park

If you want to take a leap into the past in a wild island, if you are fascinated by a corner of paradise without human settlements, if you love birdwatching

Accessible only by boat or plane, the Rubondo National Park park is a jewel surrounded by the waters of Lake Victoria.

Paradise of birdwatching, the island is 80% covered by tropical forest.

The island’s resident animals are the sitatunga, antelopes that hide among the marshes and reeds along the coast, the hippopotamuses and Bushbuck (Imbabala), in addition to the Vervet monkeys.

The island has been repopulated with the introduction of elephants, giraffes and antelopes suni, as well as with primates such as the mantled guereza (black and white) and some dozens of chimpanzees, difficult to spot because not accustomed to the presence of man; tourists can join the teams of “accusers” and have a chance to see them.

Although the beaches are very beautiful and inviting, the presence of crocodiles and hippos prevent you from diving.

Saanane National Park

If reptiles are your passion, if the presence of crocodiles does not disturb the quiet of your lunch, if you love birdwatching

This park is a very small island of Lake Victoria and is part of the territory of the city of Mwanza. After being home to the first zoo in Tanzania for years, it became a national park in 2013.

Just over 2 km², it is easily accessible from Mwanza by boat in a few minutes.

Among the numerous introduced species: zebras, impalas, wildcats, rock hyraxes, vervet monkeys and the De Brazza’s Monkey, which, in Tanzania, is found only in this park.

The island is the natural habitat of numerous reptiles, such as Leopard tortoises, pancake tortoises, monitor lizards, agamas, pythons and crocodiles, for which the island is one of the places of reproduction.
